The center aims to build a holistic Earable-IoT HW/SW platform for everyday health monitoring, thereby enabling life-immersive healthcare services. The center recognizes ‘ear’ as a sweet spot for understanding one’s physical and mental wellness. The proximity of the ear to main organs -- i.e., brain, eyes, heart, and mouth -- facilitates continuous and detailed monitoring of essential health indicators, such as blood sugar, blood flow, eating behavior, and body temperature. By integrating multiple sensors (e.g., inertial, ultrasound, heat, electromagnetic sensors) inside a tiny form-factor, the Earable-IoT platform can trigger a burst of new healthcare services.
